Brig
Gen Paulino Macaringue
(Mocambique) holds an MA in Defence and Security Analysis, as well as an
MSc in Military Sciences and a Licenciatura degree in History. He is a
Senior Lecturer at Wits University, Public & Development Management
School – Centre for Defence and Security Management in South Africa,
where is currently working on a PhD focusing on Mocambique and SADC
security development. His other research interests include conflict;
civil-military relations; Mocambique and SADC security development.
He has accomplished duties as Company, Battalion, Brigade and Military
School Commander in the Mozambique Armed Forces and was Training
Director at the Defence Headquarters. During the United Nations
Operation for Mozambique he was part of the Joint Commission for the
establishment of the Mocambique integrated Defence Forces. Brig
Macaringue was involved in Mozambique’s participation in the regional
and continental peace and security initiatives in the Democratic
Republic of Congo; Burundi; Lesotho; Comoros, Guinea-Bissau and Somalia.
He was involved in the drafting of the key security policy documents for
SADC and African Union.
